Collaboration Circle

Collaboration Circle brings funders and communities together to make funding decisions collectively. But the idea is complex: it involves pooled resources, shared decision-making and a shift in who holds power.

London Funders needed a video that could explain how the initiative works in a clear, engaging way, while helping audiences understand why this different approach to funding matters.

We created an explainer animation built around collaboration and collective strength. Rather than relying entirely on traditional animation, we combined real photography and footage with bespoke illustration to bring the people and the ideas together.

A circular visual motif runs throughout the animation, representing connection, shared power and pooled funding. Duotone imagery and circular layouts also helped tie the visual style back to the London Funders brand.

One of the key challenges was showing some fairly abstract concepts without making the animation feel overly technical or disconnected from the people it was designed to support.

We developed a visual language that allowed footage and photos of real people to move seamlessly into illustrated environments and sequences – bringing it to life.

This gave us a way to keep the story grounded in real people while using illustration where it could make the more complex parts of Collaboration Circle easier to understand.
